Q&A

Q: WHAT’S INVOLVED IN BOOKING OUR WEDDING?

A: First, email me with all your wedding date information and we can talk pricing and collections. Then to book your date and ensure that I will be photographing your wedding, a contract and 50% deposit are required. I book on a first come, first serve basis, upon receipt of a signed contract along with the deposit. After your booking is secured, we’ll arrange for a meeting with good coffee.

Q: DO YOU WORK ALONE?

A: Yes, Melissa Meyer is the primary photographer of the day. We create a timeline suited for your wedding day, it’s important that every photo is in my style. My assistant will be helping with the technical stuff. If you want a second shooter, that will be additional.

Q: WHAT ARE THE ALBUMS LIKE THAT YOU OFFER?

A: I offer beautifully crafted albums, with layflat pages and embossing of your names on the front. You can also see my sample albums at our meeting.

Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU BOOK WEDDINGS?

A: I typically book weddings 6-12 months in advance.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

A: I shoot with my Canon 5D Mk3 and have different L-series lenses. The f1.2 50mm is my favourite!

Q: CAN WE ORDER ALBUMS AFTER OUR WEDDING?

A: Absolutely! I keep your edited images for 6 months after your wedding date & then you can order any product. Keep in mind that the prices change without notice.

Q: DO YOU NEED A MEAL & PLACE TO SIT DURING RECEPTION?

A: Please provide a place to sit for myself & my assistant {it doesn’t have to be with the guests, just a spot near the reception hall} and a meal for the both of us.

Q: DO YOU TRAVEL TO PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS?

A: Yes! I love to travel for national- & international weddings.

Q: HOW MANY EDITED PICTURES WILL WE BE GETTING?

A: From an 8 hour wedding, you will get about 500+ detailed edited images. Every wedding is different, so this is just a minimum average.

Q: CAN WE EDIT ANY OF THE PICTURES YOU GIVE US?

A: No, I spend days editing your images to perfection, making sure each photo I give is according to my style. Photography is more than just ‘clicking and editing’ – it’s art, it’s my way of expressing your love, your beauty and your moment and that’s why you choose me in the first place, because you like my style. When you buy a painting, do you go home and paint on it afterwards?

Q: WE AREN’T SURE IF WE WANT AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION OR NOT, DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD?

A: I think it’s a great idea for multiple reasons. During the time spend together for your engagement session, we get to know each other, laugh, and share stories. You two will become comfortable with me and being in front of my camera. On your wedding day, you’ll know what to expect and you’ll be okay with me taking many pictures of you, wink-wink.

Q: WHEN WILL THE PHOTOS BE READY FOR COLLECTION?

A: A preview of your wedding day will be on my page within 14 days, the production of all the images will take 4-6 weeks. Black and white photographs will also be included.

Q: CAN OTHER PEOPLE TAKE PICTURES WHILE YOU’RE TAKING PICTURES?

A: I prefer if guests refrain from taking pictures (phones, point and-shoot & DSLRS) during any posed shots. The other cameras flash may affect my photos or may distract the people in the photo to look another way, and then we might miss a moment. I do not allow guests to shadow us on your wedding day, they have their own ideas that don’t always work with mine.

What’s more important is phones/cameras during the ceremony & confetti, these photos can only be taken once, and if everyone is taking photos with their phones while the bride is walking down the aisle, it looks terrible on my photo (which is the most important shot). This is a glorious day & you want your guests to take-in the whole day. That’s why you got me, I won’t miss a moment!
